Principal Accountabilities (Responsibilities)

  • To ensure timeliness, completeness, and accuracy of processing of transactions in the ERP for each financial period by reviewing and performing final posting of journal entries into the General Ledger.
  • Coordinate GL closure by ensuring the closing timetable is circulated on time and that all the sub-ledger modules are closed as per the closing timetable to ensure timely production of management reports.
  • Management of all the Group’s companies General Ledgers and intercompany balances reconciliations.
  • Maintain and update the company’s chart of accounts and ensure correct mapping of all accounts in the ERP.
  • Perform timely and quality GL reconciliations for the assigned GL accounts.
  • Maintain proper Balance sheet accounts while ensuring adequacy of provisions to avoid large adjustments and surprises arising out of past events.
  • Review Subsidiaries’ financial reports for correctness and accuracy, before consolidating them into the Group accounts.
  • Prepare Group Annual Report and Financial statements that meet statutory requirements and the applicable financial reporting standards (IFRS, IAS, Kenya Companies Act 2015, etc).
  • Handle internal and external audit requirements and liaise between management and the external auditors to ensure smooth audit process and keep track and resolve audit issues within the set deadlines.
  • To develop, train, motivate and coach staff to enhance performance for increased productivity.
  • Prepare statement of financial position and cash flow for budgets and strategy to aid management in decision making by 10th of every month.
  • Ensure integrity of finance systems through quarterly review of system related controls and SOD conflict.

Qualification (Minimum)

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or any other business-related field from a recognized institution.
  • Must possess accounting qualification i.e. full ACCA/CPA Qualifications.
  • At least five (5) years of proven experience in general ledger/financial accounting or a similar role, preferably within the airline or aviation industry.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and inventory management best practices.
  • Proficiency in relevant accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
