About the role:

The Clinical Designer will serve as an expert on clinical and public health guidelines across various African countries to ensure efficient translation of these health protocols to various Medtronic LABS technology platforms and digital products.

As a clinical designer, you will create customized clinical algorithms and logic, in collaboration with various stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and policymakers that will enable us to make clinically and contextually accurate designs and workflows for the community health workers and healthcare providers.

Location: Nairobi (Full time)

What you’ll get to do

  • Researching and understanding the latest health system guidelines, clinical protocols and clinical policies across diseases areas in multiple African countries.
  • Conducting field research to better understand the health care providers’ day to day activities and their preferences and challenges around clinical pathways.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, policymakers, and community members, to understand their needs and co-create innovative design solutions.
  • Developing the clinical algorithms, workflows and logic across our SPICE platform products.
  • Translating the research insights and findings into clinical algorithms, logic, workflows and design mockups/prototypes.
  • Creating and maintaining a clinical workflow and clinical logic repository for the countries in which we operate.
  • Working closely with design, clinical and tech teams to ensure all the Medtronic LABS products and the features are clinically and contextually accurate.
  • Working closely with tech team to ensure that all clinical features are included and well documented in our product roadmaps.
  • Working with training and capacity building leaders to ensure that all new clinical workflow features are incorporated for wider dissemination.
  • Conducting research focused on improving the service delivery by leveraging service design approaches.

To succeed in this role, you should have

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of proven experience in clinical/healthcare design.
  • Proven experience doing qualitative research or design research in the healthcare industry.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting secondary research such as situational analysis, desk reviews or systematic reviews.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in design research, wireframing and prototyping.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility with work schedule to allow for international calls.

Travel: Up to 40%, including international

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus, and experience in healthcare or clinical settings OR Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Nursing or other health related discipline. Master’s degree is a plus and experience in design OR Other degrees in public health, clinical research, health systems strengthening, health financing may also be considered as long as both experience in design and clinical knowledge are present.
