About the role

The General Manager – Commercial Sales will be based out of Nairobi, Kenya and will be responsible for overseeing the commercial and business aspects of the organization, with a primary focus on driving revenue growth and profitability.

This role involves leading a team of professionals and working closely with clients to understand their security needs, develop effective solutions, and ensure successful implementation. This is a critical role in establishing and maintaining the company’s position as a leader in the security industry, driving sales, and fostering strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and executing the company’s commercial strategy, including market analysis, target identification, and sales forecasting.
  • Identifying new business opportunities and potential partnerships to expand the company’s market presence.
  • Leading negotiations for major contracts and agreements with clients, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
  • Staying updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to proactively identify business opportunities and address potential challenges.
  • Managing the sales team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations to drive sales targets and revenue growth.
  • Developing and implementing effective sales and marketing strategies to promote the company’s security services and solutions.
  • Collaborating with the marketing team to create compelling marketing materials, campaigns, and digital presence to generate leads and increase brand awareness.
  • Monitoring sales metrics, analyzing data, and preparing regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and competitor activities.
  • Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with key clients, acting as the primary point of contact for their security requirements.
  • Understanding client needs, recommending appropriate security solutions, and coordinating with the operations team for successful execution.
  • Conducting regular client meetings, presentations, and business reviews to ensure client satisfaction and address any concerns or issues.
  • Building and leading a high-performing commercial team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members.

  • Proven experience of 8 to 15 years in a senior commercial sales leadership role within the security industry or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Strong business acumen and a track record of driving revenue growth and profitability.
  • In-depth knowledge of the security industry, including emerging trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute business strategies.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, conduct market research, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and sales analytics tools.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
