Yara East Africa has been in operation in Kenya for more than 25 years; importing and distributing fertilizer to farmers. Yara has also developed crop programs to supply complete balanced crop nutrition for a wide range of arable, horticultural, grassland, fruit and forage crops and as well as offering capacity building programs and other solutions to farmers.

Responsibilities

Production and Maintenance Manager is a position based in Mombasa, Kenya reporting to the Operations Manager. This position will be responsible for the following.

  • Lead the Operational Excellence agenda and initiatives for the country.
  • Drive asset care and maintenance process and ensure plant performance and reliability.
  • Initiate and manage minor CAPEX and revenue engineering projects at the production site to provide safe, reliable and cost-effective operations.
  • Develop Leader Standard Work routines to ensure plant performance and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and define clear scopes of work for outsourced contractors, ensuring all external work meets our standards and contributes to our operational goals.
  • Ensure compliance to Yara HESQ and Operational policies and procedures (HOPS/TOPS/IFA), demonstrating leadership commitment to the health and safety of all employees.
  • Ensure quality control processes are in place during discharge, storage, blending and bagging operations.
  • Convert sales forecast to a realistic production plan linking raw materials and packaging materials availability, contractors, and equipment.

Profile

  • University degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing engineering or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years practical experience in a similar role within a large-scale production unit.
  • Knowledge and experience in operations management and people management.
  • Proficient in using advanced microsoft application.
