ThirdWay Partners (“ThirdWay”) is an investment and advisory firm operating globally with a substantial presence across the African continent, with a vision to promote a third way of investing and operating, with an ecosystem approach that brings together private and development capital for the pursuit of inclusive sustainable development. The firm has built out three distinct businesses – impact consultancy, corporate finance and asset management.
The role
This role falls within the Asset Management arm of ThirdWay, which seeks to deliver financial returns for its investors whilst at the same time driving clear tangible social and environmental impact. The ThirdWay team is looking for an experienced investment professional to help grow its Asset Management business as an Associate Director. The Associate Director will play a crucial role in supporting the end-end investment process.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Market mapping and establishing relationships with companies and ecosystem participants
- Overseeing due diligence on potential investees
- Preparation of Investment Committee materials
- Negotiating commercial terms and transaction structure
- Overseeing the preparation of investment documentation
- Leading portfolio management, including reviewing financial performance and compliance with the investment documentation, and preparing materials for Limited Partners and regulatory counterparts as and when due.
- Working closely with the Director and Managing Director to grow the Asset Management business by developing and raising new funds
- Working together with the broader TWP team (finance, legal & compliance, 3rd party services providers) to contribute to the efficiency and the scalability of TWP’s Asset Management business
Candidate Profile:
- Passionate about impact investing
- 6 years of experience as an investment professional
- Pro-active and results-driven (strong problem-solving skills)
- Persuasive communicator (verbal & written) with the ability to build stakeholder buy-in
- Highly organised and able to move multiple projects forward at the same time
- Willingness to travel
